Peugeot won the Best SUV 2017 and Best Medium SUV categories in the Carbuyer Car of the Year 2017 awards with the stunning all-new 3008 SUV. The awards recognised Peugeot’s new 3008 SUV as a key player in the SUV market and praised the car for its innovative interior, exterior design and technological features.
The What Car? awards are highly sought after and often described as the “Oscars of the motoring world”.
Peugeot have gone on to win the What Car? Car of the Year award more than any other car manufacturer.
The first win was in 1979 with the Peugeot 305 winning Car of the Year, which was then succeeded by the Peugeot 205 GR in 1984. The Peugeot 306 then won the same award in 1994 and then in 1996 the Peugeot 406 scooped it again. In 2010, the Peugeot 3008 Crossover was crowned Car of the Year, topping the competitive Crossover category.
More recently, the unique new generation PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® driving environment of the all-new 3008 SUV won the Technology Award at the What Car? Car of the Year Awards 2017.
The European Car of the Year awards is one of the most prestigious automotive accolades. The awards were established in 1984 by automotive magazines from different countries in Europe and judged by motoring journalists. Throughout the years, Peugeot have won European Car of the Year an impressive four times:
The Auto Express New Car Awards set out to identify the top cars to buy in each automotive area. Automotive journalists and testers assess over 1,100 cars a year and Auto Express provides these reviews to their large readership. The Auto Express website is one of the UK’s biggest motoring websites, providing news, features and reviews and is the UK’s biggest-selling motoring publication.
In 2012, Peugeot celebrated a double award win at the Auto Express New Car Awards, with the Peugeot 208 winning the Best Supermini class award – even before its UK launch. The Peugeot RCZ Sports Coupé also won the Best Coupé Class in both 2011 and 2012.
Before retiring in 2015, the stunning Peugeot RCZ scooped the Diesel Car magazine Sports Car of the Year Award an amazing five years in a row. In 2010, the Peugeot 5008 MPV was also awarded MPV of the Year by Diesel Car magazine.
The Continental Irish Car of the Year awards established in 1978 is organised and judged by the Irish Motoring Writers Association (IMWA), a grouping of Irish motoring journalists.
In the 2010 awards, the Peugeot 3008 Crossover won the Best Crossover category and also won Irish Car of the Year 2010. The Peugeot 5008 MPV was awarded Irish Family Car of the Year in 2011 and the RCZ was named Irish Performance Car of the Year in 2011. In 2012, the Peugeot 508 Saloon received the Irish Car of the Year gong from the IMWA.
